If you still would like to contribute items, please feel free to do so. I would appreciate it if you would let me know what you have to donate and when it will be arriving in Salisbury. Anything "Eastern Shore" related or bird-related is welcome. I have books on carving, decoys and many bird-related items. I will be in the Guerreri Building (Wicomico Room) on Salisbury University campus the morning of Friday, August 10 starting at 9:30 a.m. This is my busiest time and if anyone could help me log and display items, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!! A bid sheet must be made for every item in the silent auction and last year there were over 250 items, so it is a time-consuming job for one person. Please bring your donations to me at the location above, if at all possible. I will have tax receipts at this time. If it is impossible to transport your donations to the Guerreri Building, there will be a box at registration in which to deposit items. I will periodically have a "volunteer" drove these items to me across the street so please try to get them to me at the University. I will be setting up the silent auction/raffle room all morning and afternoon so please stop by to browse or volunteer your help. I also need monitors during the days of the conference for periods of 1 - 1.5 hours. They will just monitor the activities of the room and answer questions. (A nice activity for non-birding spouses or those who want to come in from the hot weather!) So far I have donations of over 200 books!!!!!!!! Please be select in the books you donate. Keep them bird-related or Eastern-shore related. If you have an overabundance of other books, save them for next year. I'd love to have enough room for a variety of items. Last year the silent auction/raffle raised $2, 202.21. It is my goal to exceed that amount this year. The money will go to two great causes--The Centreville Middle School World Series of Birding Team (they did outstanding in last year's competion and will be selling raffle tickets during meals) and the Lower Shore Land Trust. The raffle items are running scarce. If you can solicit items from your area or chapter, that would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks for all the donations and the offers of help. Email me directly or call with questions or comments or just to volunteer an hours monitoring.
