Her. in Howard County A Yellow-crowned Night Heron was found a Lake Elkhorn this afternoon by Sue Neri. I do not know the exact time of her sighting, but I saw the adult bird at about 1:45 p.m. Excellent, close look. Also around were at least two Great Blues, a single Great Egret, 3 or more Green Herons, and 2 Spotted Sandpipers. A Great-creasted Flycather was fweeep!-ing away in the trees. From rt. 32, take Broken Land Parkway north (right if you're west bound on 32). Park in lot on the right just beyond Snowden River Parkway. Walk along the right side of the lake on paved path. Take left fork which will take you over a small bridge. The YCNH was on the right side of the bridge, wading. Sue saw it earlier perched in a tree further back. The Spotted SPs were on the left, far bank. Great Blues and Greens all over. Note, if you know a back way through the neighborhoods, parking could be complicated by several neighborhood parties. Also, a concert at Merriwether Post at 7 pm tonight could snarl traffic on rt. 29. Thanks Sue! See cool birds! -Kurt Schwarz Howard County white-crown@home.com ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
