Bob, I eliminated Chinese Swan Goose (one species) from consideration by bill color and Greylag by the white feathering surrounding its bill. Are there other contenders for parentage? How common are domesticated geese derived from White-fronts? Or have I not spent enough time carefully looking at domestic geese? The Greylags I'm familiar with do not have white at the base of the bill, despite Sibley's drawing to the contrary. Or is this one of those rare cases where the offspring exhibit a trait present in neither parent?
