AZ, where the good birds included Brown Pelican, Laughing Gull, and Prothonotary Warbler (oh yeah, also Plain-capped Starthroat, Berylline Hummingbird, Rufous-capped Warbler, Five-striped Sparrow, Elegant Tern (and Trogon), etc...). Best of all were two non-birds: Ridge-nosed Rattlesnake and MOUNTAIN LION! I'll be home for the next month and am getting prepped for some serious shorebirding. Since Maryland gets such short-shrift in the shorebird department, other than Hart-Miller we are at a real disadvantage, and many of the locations depend on water levels. I am curious to know, has anyone been to any of the following places recently, all of which can have good shorebird habitat under the right conditions. * Ridgely W.T.P, Caroline Co. (is this still under construction?) * Bullfrog Rd. Pond and Harney Rd. Ponds, Frederick Co. * Lilypons, Frederick Co. * North Branch/Rouge Lagoon, Allegany Co. * Berlin W.T.P., Worcester Co. (was good in spring) * Easton W.T.P., Talbot Co. * Pemberton Manor, Queen Anne's Co. * Tower Gardens, Queen Anne's Co. * Youghigheny River Reservoir, Garrett Co. * Piney Reservoir, Garrett Co. * Lakeside Ponds, Harford Co. * Courthouse Point, Cecil Co. * Deal Island W.M.A., Somerset Co. (good when water levels are low) I have seen recent reports from E.A. Vaughn, Blackwater, and Hurlock so have some sense for how those areas are. Any reports, pro or con will be appreciated so we start to learn where to focus our shorebird efforts (other than Delaware and Virginia, obviously).
