In early June of this year, my KOWA TSN-824 fogged internally during a wet weekend of birding in Western Maryland. I packaged up the scope with a note describing the problem and sent both to KOWA OPTIMED, just as my warranty card had indicated. When they received the item, they called me to discuss the problem, for the lenses had internally dried during the trip. I knew the fog had been on the inner surface of the objective lens, and told them so. The service person indicated that it must just be that the lens sealing yielded somewhere - not a frequent occurrence, but still one that gives them business periodically. About a month later, they called to say that the moisture on that lens had been sufficiently damaging as to merit a new lens, so they had ordered one from Japan - but could give me no information regarding delivery date. (Perhaps their cleaning was unable to leave a 'perfect' lens - I would not have thought that the moisture alone would be that damaging.) On August 10th, I received paperwork indicating the repair work had been completed and that the item had been shipped. Yesterday, Aug 13th, the scope arrived, and it seems to be in fully satisfactory condition. There was no charge to me for this service. I am satisfied with this result, and today's 'first-time' use of the repaired scope, at the Central Sod Farm, was a pleasing experience. For my KOWA, KOWA OPTIMED did what the warranty had indicated.
