I arrived in Salisbury on Thursday at 1pm and didn't leave until everything was packed and the last people were out at 5pm on Sunday. I slept past 10am on Monday ( I usually get up at 5am) and was dragging all day and even dragging Tuesday and Wednesday. However I did get to bird Bombay Hook today. The Annual MOS Conference is an ALL VOLUNTEER event, and I would like to take this opportunity to THANK every member of the Conference Planning Committee for all of their dedication and hard work to make you weekend a success. We could not have had such a wonderful Conference experience without the cooperation and Team Spirit of all who gave of their precious time Local Conference Coordinator Ellen Lawler along with everyone who worked over the past year and in Salisbury over the weekend deserve the praise for pulling off a great event. In addition to the birding field trip side of the Conference, it is also the Annual Business meeting of the Maryland Ornithological Society. Special thanks should be given to the MOS Officers and Board members who have served you over the past year and who will continue to do so over the coming one. The Annual Business meeting is just a small part of the Conference and a small part of the job the executive officers and board members perform over the year. Due to their service over the weekend, most of the Committee went of very few if any trips at all, were up early and went to bed later than everyone else. This says a lot about them and their dedication to MOS and birds. Thank you to all of the Conferees who attended in Salisbury. All 266 of you! Thanks to the students of the Centerville Middle School World Series of Birding Team members who helped with leading the bird hike that was open to the public and for their help with selling raffle tickets. Everyone was glad to see them participate in the Conference. One of the best outcomes of the conference for me is gaining new birding friends form all over the State. I look forward to keeping in touch with my new friends on the Shore and birding with them when I visit the area. It won't be long before planning for 2002 is in full force so I plan to take things easy until September when it starts up again. It was a pleasure meeting everyone in Salisbury and being able to put names and faces together for many of you. Thanks for all of your support, comments and suggestions. We learn from each one of them. I look forward to seeing you next year in Western Maryland. From vacation in Worcester County Naturally yours, Mike Callahan MOS Statewide Conference Chairman ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
