In Western Maryland the Conservancy recently negotiated the purchase of nearly 800 acres that will help to preserve the North Cherry Creek Bog in Garrett county (Nature Conservancy, Sep/Oct 2001, p 32). In the same issue (p 41) a new project was announced sponsored by Nature Valley which sells Crunchy Granola Bars. The info below is also on 8 million boxes of the bars. The Nature Valley Company is willing to donate up to $125,000 to the Conservancy, $1 at a time for each click & it won't cost you a penny. Go to The Nature Conservancy's home page at: http://www.you-click.net/GoNow/a14464a38905a67038207a1 Look for the Great Blue's pic for the spot to click. As a part of the Conservancy's Wings of the Americas program the money will help protect vital bird habitat in such diverse places as the Edge of Appalachia Preserve in Ohio and Ecuador's Podocarpus National Park. Since 1998, similar promotions with the Nature Valley company has netted the Conservancy $485,000.
