Schwarz" Subject: Swans in HowCo This afternoon (17 Aug) about 3 pm, the west end of Howard County's Centennial Park was hosting two swans. One was an obvious adult Mute, the other appears (to me) to be a Tundra. But I recall the dispute this spring of a mystery swan at Centennial and hesitate to make any definitive claims. The bill/lores showed no sign of yellow. The area where the bill joins the forehead is rounded, not a V. It appears to be about the same size as the mute. It'll take smarter people than me to call this bird. Or is it just another Columbia lake "Trumpling" wandering about? Can anyone explain to me just what the deal with the Columbia "Trumplings" is? What the responsible parties were thinking is completely opaque to me. Please respond off the list. Also present at Centennial a lone Great Egret. -Kurt Schwarz Howard County white-crown@home.com ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
