Schwarz" Subject: Tridelphia Terns This morning, Saturday, I was at Brighton Dam, Tridelphia Reservoir at about 7:45. A Forster's Tern flew in, and perched on one of the white posts out in the lake. Like one of the birds I saw 4 August, this one occassionally showed the beginnings of a white crown, but otherwise retained its black cap. Bill color was tough, looked almost yellowish from Brighton Dam, but by the time I got to Greenbridge for a closer look, it looked dark. Leg color was reddish. Wings were "frosty," no black. Light was not good, hazy. Viewed at 60X. Could Forster's have lingered there for two weeks? Also seen, 3 Double-crested Cormorants, 1 Caspian Tern, 3 Purple Martins. The Cliff Swallows appear to have departed. Water levels are up from two weeks ago. There is no mud at Pigtai or Big Branch, so no shorebirds. An Osprey was present at Pigtail about 7:00. The swans at Centennial yesterday were not present today at 9-11:00 -Kurt Schwarz Howard County white-crown@home.com ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
