Shorebirds + RB Nuthatch MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi MD, I checked a couple spots in Allegany Co. Saturday morning (8/18) for = shorebirds. Had no luck at the Terminus (of the C&O Canal in = Cumberland) although the water level has dropped enough that it might = now become productive. Had better results at North Branch. Numbers were low but the variety = was pretty good. 1 Lesser Yellowlegs 1 Solitary Sandpiper 1 Spotted Sandpiper 1 Least Sandpiper 1 Baird's Sandpiper Clearly the highlight. I debated with myself = over White-rumped until it flew and the tail could be seen. =20 1 Pectoral Sandpiper Also checked the Dan's Rock area where, incidentally, Susan Sires = reported a Short-eared Owl recently (8/9 10 & 11). The most intriguing = sighting was a Red-breasted Nuthatch heard then seen along Dan's Rock = Road. Also had Black-and-white Warbler in the same area. Happy trails ....
