Comments: cc: Georgearmistead@aol.com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit MDOsprey, County listers and anyone visiting the Eastern Shore should check out a new shorebird location, right on the way to Ocean City. It is located on the north side of Rte. 50 about 2 mi west of Salisbury, and just 0.5 mi west of the new bypass being built. It is a borrow pit type area that has had small pockets of water for a couple years now and which has been a consistent roosting/bathing location for gulls from Salisbury Landfill. This year it is completely full of water and has several grassy islands which are appealing to shorebirds. Wicomico County is one of the hardest counties in which to get shorbeirds, and my shorebird list for the county has been limping along for years now. This location may provide a chance to find some tough shorebirds in Wicomico Co. - the habitat looks good for avocet, Ruff, Wilson's Phalarope etc. The list today included: Semi Plover - 3 Killdeer - 10 Greater Yellowlegs - 10 Lesser Yellowlegs - 10 Semi Sand -15 Least Sand - 25 Pectoral Sand -10 WHITE-RUMPED SAND - 8 Maybe someone from Wicomico County can let us know what better birds Sam Dyke has already found here...
