Whip-poor-wills singing at 5:45 (my favorite yard bird) Screech Owl at 6:15 Great Horned Owl dueting at 6:50 (always a treat to hears this) Migrant Canada Warbler 7:15 Others observed or heard were: Mourning Dove - 3 Chimney Swift - 2 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds - 4; no adults. Have they left already? Downy Woodpecker - 4 Red-bellied Woodpecker - 2 Yellow-shafted Flicker - 2; one young, one adult Pileated Woodpecker - 2 Blue Jay - 12 American Crow - ? horassing the owls Carolina Chickadee - 6 Tufted Titmouse - 8 White-breasted Nuthatch - 2 Carolina Wren - 2 Wood Thursh - starting to sing - maybe a burst of testosteron? Brown Thrasher - calling in the tree top European Starling ? Red-eyed Vireo - also singing Song Sparrow - molting in a new suit. Common Grackles - 25; the hoards are assending upon usHouse Finch - 10 American Goldfinch - 8 I am going back outside. Enjoy the day.
