I think these little radios can't be beat for jobs like coordinating the logistics of field trips (multiple cars, people spread over a wide area, etc.). My concern was that more needed to be said about potential incompatibilities among brands and about the risks that may be incurred by birders attempting to use these gadgets outside of the US and Canada. The sense that ABA was implicitly endorsing a single brand of radio was also a bit bothersome to me, but you can likely discount this since a lot of what ABA does is bothersome to me and everyone knows I 'm a curmudgeon. I believe Karen Morley has agreed to put the standards question to the MOS Board at our December meeting.
