Highlights, lowlights, sidelights: Well let's see, two of participants overslept and missed the boat. (Matt needs a new alarm clock, Tom needs to review how to set his.) Day Totals: 94 species of birds (21 shorebirds); 15 butterflies; 8 odonates. Jim Stasz spotted a new bird species for the Hart-Miller Island master list (species # 276) as well as a new butterfly for the island list(species # 42). We all had extended looks through scopes at the bird that was only 50 feet away. Jim also aquired 2 birds for his Baltimore County list. The Marbled Godwit was still on the island. It may have been my imagination, but I thought that I heard the bird call once and it sounded like it said "Norm." The running gag after every Hart-Miller Trip is to say, tongue-in-cheek, "Another dull day at Hart-Miller!!!" Yesterday, we probably made that statement twenty-five times during the day. Full report to follow.
