First, = at Mason-Dixon Farm in Frederick County there was one Buff-breasted = Sandpiper in the east pond off Harney Road. It was with 8 Killdeer, 5 = Least Sandpipers, and a Pectoral Sandpiper. In the west pond, off = Bullfrog Road, there was 1 Blue-winged Teal, 1 Green-winged Teal, 1 = Lesser Yellowlegs, and 1 Solitary Sandpiper. The farm has already = started cutting the corn which was decimated by the local drought this = summer so there may be activity on the roads and in the fields on = weekdays. In Westminster, Carroll County, there was an Avocet in the sediment = pond on Magna Way. The pond is about a tenth of a mile east of Route 97 = near the airport, north of town. This is not the pond behind the Dairy = Queen but the next pond. It is easily visible from the road. This is = the second report of Avocet for the county but the first confirmed.
