Photos were taken. Maybe this is the beginning of a great finch season. Red-breasted Nuthatches are around. What's next? The deck was a little more active today. A Great Horned Owl calling just after midnight was a good way to start the day. Birds this morning were: 1 Killdeer calling flying over 1 young male Ruby-throated Hummingbird 4 Red-bellied Woodpecker 6 Downy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 1 Pileated Woodpecker ~ 100 (a steady stream) Chimney Swifts heading south Great Crested Flycatcher - calling Wood Peewee - singing 14 Blue Jay 3 American Crows 6 Carolina Chickadee 8 Tufted Titmouse 4 White-breasted Nuthatch 2 Carolina Wren 2 Eastern Bluebirds 1 Brown Thrasher 10 E. Starlings 2 Pine Warblers (the male was singing) 4 Scarlet Tanager 2 Grackles + a flock of 30 overhead - keep going! 10 House Finch 16 Goldfinch (Pine Siskin to follow?)
