Any nautical chartbook and some of the official state maps show these. There are public ones just south of Knapps Narrows on T.I. to the east of Route 33 in the vicinity of Dogwood Harbor plus one well north of T.I. at Wittman to the east of 33 in the upper reaches of Harris Creek (which I've never used). Opposite the Poplar Island archipelago is Lowes Wharf Road, going off to the west of 33 & north of Knapps Narrows. If I remember you pay a fee in the store there. Lowes is awkward because there's not much straightaway and you have to back in at an angle. The public ramps you may or may not have to pay a county fee (or be subject to big fines) ... I forget. I pay for the county license each year and launch at distant Bellevue. The extreme s. end of Tilghman, formerly an R&R site for the USSR embassy folks I believe, is now a private B&B, I think. The saltmarsh on the north side of the narrows I would think would be a good place to kayak, although it is small, or, go over to Poplar Island and poke around, esp. the east and south sides as well as Jefferson and Coaches Islands, but DON'T land anywhere because there are all sorts of restrictions. The north and west sides consist of long stretches of unproductive high, stone rip-rap.-Harry Armistead, 523 E. Durham St., Philadelphia, PA 19119.
