Weather: Started at about 45 at 0630 and rose to 60 at 0930. Light wind, no cloud cover. Birded the Gwynn Acres trail from 0630 through to 0800. Then north entrance of Centennial from 0815 till 0930. It was pretty cold down along the trail at Gwynn Acres. To be honest 0630 was too early. The light was pretty poor and the birds only started to get active around 0730. Very little activity in the understory, a couple of small flocks moved through the upper storey. Centennial was much better. At least 3, large mixed flocks of warblers. First was right by the tennis courts, mainly in the open bay of bushes, with taller trees as a backdrop, that lies along the stream just north of the bridge. Second flock was along the access path that climbs up from the bridge. Third was in the open work clearing (the one with piles of woodchips). Wood duck pond was quiet. Migrants included: Broad-winged Hawk (2) Tennessee Warbler (1) Nashville Warbler (2) Chestnut-sided Warbler (2) Magnolia Warbler (approx 30) Black-throated Green Warbler (approx 20) Blackburnian Warbler (2) American Redstart (1) Ovenbird (1) Common Yellowthroat (1) Red-eyed Vireo (7) Blue-headed Vireo (1) ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
