These past few years, nearly all the Broadwings headed west and southwest. They first headed to Cromwell valley and split when arrive at the beltway, some headed west and many headed southeast toward Belair Rd. and then straight southwest over Belair Rd to my yard. Couple years ago, after joining Jim Meyers and gang on Fall Count at Cromwell valley counting hawks. I left to head home to catch up on the flight, at the beltway, headed toward Belair Rd, I saw hundred of Broadwings headed toward Belair Rd after split at the beltway. At the ramp to Belair Rd south, I saw many more headed southwest to my place. Arrive at my place, in a couple minutes, hundreds arrive from thr northeast, continue all day with over 7000. Some of you probably remember my post about these numbers in 1999. After reading the post today about Broadwings flight at Clyburn, Bonnie Ott's report, and other places in Howard County, they did flew over my place. Every year, estimate about 25,000+ Broadwings flew over my place. I did count at the west side of the ridge, many i miss had past over east side of the ridge and on some days while I'm at work in afternoon. Right now there is no Backyard Hawk Watch this year due to full time job. This coming Thurs, The TV crew from the MPT "Outdoor Maryland" on PBS will be filming hawks in my backyard.
