Posters are = reporting flocks of from 500 to several thousand birds at some locations = and banders are saying that they have never seen anything like it.=20 In addition, there have been scattered reports of Boreal Chickadees on = the move as well. The upshot is that this may well be the invasion year we have been = expecting for more than a decade. Invasion years in Maryland are always = signalled by large early movements to the north of us. Although the = identification remains one of the most challenging Maryland field = problems, observers should be on the lookout starting in the middle of = next month.=20 Eirik A.T.
