Things started slowly due to the cold, gray skies and a stiff northeast breeze. Birding improved as I got to areas more protected from the wind and I wound up with a decent list. A good raptor day with an Osprey, a Merlin, an immature Cooper's Hawk, a Red-Shouldered Hawk, 2 Red-Tails, 3 Kestrels and TVs. A flock of about 100 Snow Geese passed over, the first I recall for this area in Sep. At the pond on my grandfather's farm, things really picked up. A small flock contained a B&W Warb, Pine, an immature female Cape May and a half dozen Yellow Rumps (first of the season) and a Balt Oriole. While watching this flock, I heard a small chip behind me in the grass and weeds. It turned into a Lincoln's Sparrow, a new bird for my homelist. :) Good Birding, Glen Lovelace III Seaford, DE ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
