However, today they did the Smithsonian and we went out to try for the Avocet at Tridelphia Lake, despite feeling that teh cold night probably hastened it on its way. We checked from Greenbridge, Tridelphia Lake Rd., and the dam and saw no Avocet but did see an Osprey, about ten Killdeer and a distant peep hat we think was a White-rump. We also saw a birder way up the lake on the muddy verge checking through the geese, but got the impression that he was not seeing the Avocet either. (Body language carries quite a way!) However, it could have been out of sight so it may be worth continuing to check.
