The best -- and probably of interest to you county listers -- was a nice WESTERN KINGBIRD seen about 1 pm and later, at about 2:30 pm along the shell road north of the state park entrance, sitting on the tops of dead pines on the west side of the road. It was along the section of road where there are some (well log?) pipes on the east side, one of which is labelled "USGS". The fact that it was at least sticking around in one spot today might be hopeful for tomorrow. Thousands of Tree Swallows were passing south, and we also had a good passage of Catbirds and Phoebes. Other species of interest included Red-breasted Nuthatches in teh pines just at the park entrance, as well as lots of Yellow Palm Warblers and a couple of male Black-throated Blues, Red-eyed Vireos and Brown Thrashers at the Bayside campground. Only one Peregrine, oen Harrier and one Osprey were seen. Offshore -- flocks of Cormorants flying south, as well as some Scoters and Pelicans. Lots of Monarchs, American Painted Ladies, Buckeyes and Sulphurs added color to the day.
