There was little activity at the Veteran's Memorial, perhaps because an immature Cooper's Hawk was lurking about. It was VERY immature - it didn't even know to avoid us. Rob almost stumbled into it as it was perched in a low tree, and when we left it behind to bird another part of the Memorial area, the hawk flew over and landed so close to us I had trouble focusing my binocs on it! This may be the same bird we saw a few weeks ago. On the Constitution Gardens side, migrants were more abundant, including Ruby-crowned Kinglet, a couple of Black-throated Green Warblers, and a few Palm Warblers (the white-breasted kind). There were Double-crested Cormorants in the Constitution Gardens pond, and we also saw an adult Red-tailed Hawk being harassed by crows.
