Sparrows were the stars and good things seemed to come in pairs. Two NELSON'S SHARP TAILED SPARROWS were found on Saturday. Excellent looks through the scope for all who attended. SAVANNAHS and SWAMPS in good numbers along with a few WHITE-CROWNS and a LINCOLNS among the expected species. BOBOLINKS, PIPITS and INDIGO BUNTING in the fields. This morning we held a hawk watch which disintegrated into a sparrow search. Some folks who met me early for some early sparrowing were well rewarded with a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW which we were able to observe at length as it moved along a hillside of multi flora with numerous FIELD SPARROWS. Later in a search to relocate a LINCOLNS for a small group we were astonished to find another CLAY COLORED which appeared to be a different bird. There again the sparrows were plentiful with WHITE-CROWNS and SWAMPS allowing great study. The non sparrow highlights were a MERLIN and RED-HEADED WOODPECKER.
