As usual they were in good numbers and in many plumages. A LINCOLN'S was delightful and allowed great views in the vicinity of the burning bush. I find this is a reliable spot to find Lincoln's. Migrant CHIPPING filtered through and SONGS were abundant. WHITE-THROATS making noises everywhere. A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER landed right above my head. Always nice to see the winter arrivals. A GREEN HERON was actively feeding along the pond edge. There is always something a bit sad in the fall watching the last of these lingering birds. I will miss the chattering of the chimney swifts.
