I'll be leading a trip to various and sundry places in De, MD and VA this coming weekend - a commando style trip designed to do more species-tallying, than good quality bird watching. Since I just signed back on today, I'm hoping that some folks can give me a bit of help with any rarities that have been seen lately, and a general idea of how far progressed migration is. Some examples: are there any waterfowl at the OC pond yet? Have peregrines been seen at OC water tower? And good sparrows at the wal-mart field? Any owls or rough-legged hawks at Deale? Is Shrimpy still around? I know a lot of these things are expected later in the year, but this is the time we have available. also, I seem to have lost the URL for the archives - could some kind soul please remind me? For those of you who remember me, I've been pretty active this year, with trips to Michigan (Kirtland's Warbler and trip to Whitefish Point), Idaho (a week helping with Burrowing Owl research), and Oregon (no serious birding, but still 6 lifers. Tennessee is great for warblers, but poor for waterfowl and shorebirds, at least here in the Smokies! Of course having 6 species of warbler breed in my backyard does help make up for lack of ducks... Good day! And if any of you are ever down my way...
