Found no gulls in the pond. Saw some flyby Laughing and Ring-billed Gulls headed north. I thought the Franklin Gull might follow them. I headed out north to Patuxent Wildlife Research Center behind the Visitor Center. Only one Ring-billed Gull flyby over the lake. Schoolhouse Pond 1 Double-crested Cormorant 1 Great Blue Heron 20 Canada Goose 13 Mallard 2 Wood Duck 5 Laughing Gull (flyby) 14 Ring-billed Gull (flyby) 2 Mourning Dove 1 Downy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 1 Eastern Phoebe 2 Blue Jay (flyby) 2 American Crow 3 Carolina Chickadee 2 Tufted Titmouse 5 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1 Northern Mockingbird 8 European Starling 1 Palm Warbler 3 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 Swamp Sparrow 4 White-throated Sparrow 2 Northern Cardinal Patuxent Wildlife Research Center More than 50 species seen at North, Central, and South Tract. Reminder that the central tract is not open to visitors. I have a permission from an old friend that i used be working with in 1997. I cannot posted any birdlist from the private land. Only birds list below are from North and South Tracts. Highlight: Nice flock of 13 Wood Duck and 2 Gadwall at Lake Allen (North Tract). 1 Pileated Woodpecker in woods near Visitor Center. 1 Blue-headed Vireo at Wildlife Loop. 11 Tree Swallows headed south over Lake Redington. 1 Brown Creeper at Cash Lake trail near the second floating boardwalk with numberous of both kinglets, yellow-rumped warblers, white-throated and song sparrows. 1 Marsh Wren at marshes at first floating boardwalk. Good size flocks of Chipping with one Field and one Savannah Sparrows at Loop Trail and several Field Sparrows near Loop Trail. Thousands of Common grackle on entrance road to North Tract.
