MD Comments: To: birdhawk MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located on the Elk Neck Peninsula in Cecil County, MD, and operates with all volunteer counters 7 mornings a week, generally from 9 AM until noon. The watch began in 1994. A decent flight today on light SW winds, Candi and Rick Lee counting with many other observers. Many accipiters were quite high and far off today. 103 total for 5 hour count. TV- 3 OS- 2 BE-5 SS- 67 RS-1 AK- 6 PG- 2 UR- 2 The high count of 328 on 10/19 was certainly high day for this year, higher than any day in 2000, (barring 9/26 with 1,495 BW, ) but on 10/11 in 1999 we did have a count of 475 raptors, so the 10/20 2001 was not an historical one day high count. It certainly ranked right up there tho.
