McHenry BIG SIT on Sunday, October 21st. We counted Song and White-Throated Sparrow, Killdeer, Northern Mockingbird, and American Robin in the first three hours of our sit. Jim Peters, our fearless leader, finally added the Sora and the Eastern Meadowlark to his fort list. The Sora came out of the reeds just below our circle and stayed in view for over 45 minutes. A flight of 225 Double-crested Cormorant trilled us shortly after dawn. Other highlights included: PALM WARBLER (1); MYRTLE WARBLER (16); Merlin (1f); Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1f); Forster's Tern (3); Tree Swallow (3); Savannah Sparrow (1); and White-crowned Sparrow (2im). BIG SIT... HUGE SUCCESS! Hey, did I mention the Sora and the Eastern Meadowlark!
