The watch began in 1994. There was good attendance this AM for our field trip, with a good showing from the BBC, and some regulars from PA and our own Cecil Bird Club. The raptor flight, while not spectacular, was respectable, 133 total for 5 hours. BUT, the first bird of the day was a PEREGRINE FALCON , followed closely by a GOLDEN EAGLE, our 2nd of the season. Charlie Gant called it again. And it was another 3 Falcon day!! Strong NW winds, Candi and Rick Lee primary counters. The season count should be well towards 4,000 by now. TV- 16 BE- 5 NH- 2 SS- 60 CH- 4 RS- 14 RT- 21 AK- 5 ME- 2 PG- 2 I believe the 2nd came through towards the end of the 10AM hour. UR- 1 Of passerines, all were delighted when a flock of 40+ PINE SISKIN came swooping through, only yards away at eye level, making their distinctive shrill zreeee sound. A small flock of ~ 7 WOOD DUCKS also flew out of the.........woods on the east edge of the clearing. And we had the usual fun of placing bets whether approaching hikers would ask the most FAQ, " how much further is it to the lighthouse.?"
