SAVANNAH numbers seemed to have dropped a little though. Delighted to find a LINCOLN'S and 4-6 VESPERS. We found the other expected sparrows with a slight increase in WHITE-CROWNS. Some other unexpected surprises- we flushed a WOODCOCK from the center of a wide open field. A MERLIN flyby and a SHARPIE that landed on a mudflat (dressing up as a yellowlegs for Halloween maybe?) 60+ AMERICAN PIPITS. A single MARSH WREN (they have been scarce this fall). p.s. since he didn't post I'll mention the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW Hans H. found at Meadowbrook Sunday. (What a year for them!)
