For the first time in several months I worked up the courage this morning to walk over & visit a 200 acre tract of farmland I've birded for 25 yrs. A while ago it was sold for development as a golf course community. That idea went bust & the property was sold again. This time the purchaser was a gentleman with "horsey" ideas. Most of the buildings & fences are up with horses in place tho the owner hasn't moved in yet. Saw & heard more flyover Purple Finches while a female N. Harrier was scouting the terrain. One of the small marshy areas that often contains breeding Willow Flycatchers is untouched. All is not lost.
