The count will continue until Nov. 30th, or until the counters wear out, whichever happens first. The month of October ended up with a slow flight, with most birds coming along well into the morning. Don and Judy Bayard counting: BE-1 RT-2 RS-12 NH-1 CH-3 SS-1 The first day of November, another light flight with warm temps and variable winds, a whole gang out this AM, counting L. Fisher, P. Valdata + six other crazed hawk watchers. From 9AM to 1 PM a total of 49: BV-4 TV-6 BE- 2 migrant, 1 imm, 1 adult, and 2 Resident, a mated pair putting on a delightful show right over and through the clearing. NH-1 SS- 20( good ol` reliable ) CH-2 RS-5 RT-3 UR- 1 Other migrants included HERMIT THRUSH, PURPLE FINCH, PINE SISKIN, RB NUTHATCH, and FORSTER TERN. As well, the variety of butterflies about was amazing, including: MOURNING CLOAK, VARIEGATED FRITTILARY, BUCKEYE, RED ADMIRAL, CLOUDED SULPHUR, MEADOW FRITTILARY It was a nice morning to be out.
