In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Last spring a Canvasback lingered on the Potomac, just downstream of Mockley Point, PG county, into May. In late summer, I found a Canvasback in Selby Bay, PG. This is about 5 miles due north of Mockley Point. The bird remained in Selby Bay through the end of September. Today, just as they are due to arrive from the north, a lone Canvasback was back at Mockley Point. It seems reasonable to assume that these sightings all refer to the same individual. If so, this bird clearly went "north" for the summer, but can I claim this as the shortest migration on record? And I wonder if he swam or flew.
