This bird was seen well and the flesh-colored lower mandible and distinct wing bars noted. It did not vocalize. Bombay Hook had thousands of SNOW GOOSE all over. We noted that only about 1% of the geese were "blue form," but that were quite a number of very dark juvenile blue form birds in the flocks. Raymond Pool had thousands of DUNLIN at high tide, with 4 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, 10 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and numerous YELLOWLEGS of both species. AMERICAN AVOCET numbered about 40. The same afternoon, Port Mahon Rd. had 20 SANDERLING, 1 KILLDEER, 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and 1 LEAST SANDPIPER, together with 40 ROYAL TERN On November 2, Indian River Inlet (Sussex County) had 3 GREAT CORMORANT just a few BRANT 1 COMMON LOON 1 HORNED GREBE 15 RUDDY TURNSTONE 10 SANDERLING Also on November 2, in Rehoboth Bay just south of Dewey Beach, there were 75 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS (all females) Also on November 2, the trail to Thompson's Island behind the Spring Lake Apartments off Rte. 1 in Rehoboth Beach had 1 WINTER WREN 4 BROWN-HEADED NUTHATCHES In Maryland: On November 2, the West Ocean City Pond on Golf Course Rd., Worcester County, was very productive, with 10+ GREAT BLUE HERON 1 GREAT EGRET 2 SNOWY EGRET 3 TRICOLORED HERON 10 LESSER YELLOWLEGS 2 DUNLIN 10+ HOODED MERGANSER and lots of puddle ducks including Mallard, black duck, gadwall, wigeon, shoveler and green-winged teal An island in Sinepuxent Bay had 42 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS 14 BROWN PELICANS and 50+ DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT 1 OSPREY 20 FORSTER'S TERN The rocks at the inlet were covered with many fishermen.
