The Kelp Gull is still there as of lunch time on 11/3. The best / most productive part was the Red trail at Calvert Cliffs SP. It follows a stream down to the Bay with a series of beaver ponds. It has Red-headed WP habitat written all over it, but no luck. Was able to see six other woodpecker species (5 from the boardwalk they have built into one of the ponds, a sapsucker was seen minutes later down the trail). The ponds also produced Mallards, Wood, Black, and Ring-necked Ducks). Other notables were a pair of Brown Creepers, 4 Hermit Thrushes and one Swainson's. This trail is always very productive, but has many hikers / fossil seekers on the weekends. The other trails in the park aren't quite as productive, but virtually deserted.
