The finch seem to prefer tulip trees and were avidly attacking the seed pods. The Dolefield Wetlands are along what is now a closed stretch of Dolefield Road between Pleasant Road and Red Run Blvd. This road can be reached most easily by parking at the Pleasant Road end where there is a barricade. There is room for several cars. The entire trip I took consisted of walking down the closed road behind Owings Mills New Town, taking a left after crossing the bridge over a creek (Red Brook?) and walking up the sewer line below the new buldings. I entered the road (Red Brook Blvd) and walked along that until almost to Pleasant Road. Rather than walk on the road, I again took the sewer line past a stormwater impoundment and joined Pleasant. I then walked down Pleasant back to my car. The short stretch on Pleasant (100 YDS?) was the only time I had any traffic, and there is sufficient berm for safety. The other alternative is simply to walk down the road and back -- still a very nice walk only missing some more marshy areas.
