The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located on the Elk Neck Peninsula in Cecil County, MD, and operates with all volunteer counters 7 morning a week. The count will continue until Nov. 30th, or until the counters wear out. A respectable flight on 11/7, 113 raptors over 5 hours, nice mixed kettles of RT and RS dominating the day, some delightful views of overhead adult RS, can`t be beat. Counting: L. Fisher, C. GAnt, B. Collins, P. Mann and P. Valdata, plus some visitors from New York and PA. Winds were minimal until 1 PM, and then 0-5 out of NNW: BV-1 TV- 18 NH-4 ( 2 adult male, 1 imm, 1 female ) SS- 25 CH-2 RS- 32 RT- 26 UR- 5 Also of interest were numerous EASTERN BLUEBIRD, PURPLE FINCH, as well as a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and PILEATED WOODPECKER ( heard only ) We also had a great look at a RUBY MEADOWHAWK perched on our table, MONARCH, MEADOW FRITILLARY and various SULPHURS. Totals as of noon on 11/5, counter still present for the afternoon, Rick Lee had a 100+ count with very strong gusty winds, will report days total when data available. It seems that a few falcons continue to trickle through: ***see below for additional birds seen between 1200- 1430**** BV-9 TV-5 BE-3 SS-20 CH-2 RS-20 RT-45 ML-1 PG-1 **** additional of RS-7, BW-3, SS-2, RT-7, CH-2 and BE-3 ***** Leslie Fisher Watch Coordinator ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
