Came home today about 2 pm to find, FINALLY, a female Pine Siskin on our thistle feeder in Ellicott City, Howard County It's been several years since my wife spotted one here, but I missed that one. I then trooped over to Centennial Park to see if there were any interesting waterfowl. I was rewarded with 9 Buffleheads, 3 Ruddies, and 1-2 Pied- billed Grebes. I was busily trying to make one of those Pied-billeds into a Horned, but a kayaker spoiled the fun. It's probably wishful thinking, but that bill DID look rather long, and it DID seem gray and white.... It was around the concession stand. Also found were 5 lovely Rusty Blackbirds, at what's left of the pond on the north side of the lake, near the dam, hidden in the bushes behind the bench. Tomorrow Shrimpie or Bust!
