The bird was found there about noon by JB Churchill and = seen by us in the same general area about 3pm, thanks to JB's excellent = directions. =20 The Island has a row of tall white posts marking the distance in = kilometers from the Inlet. It's posted every quarter kilometer, and the = bird was seen between posts 5.75 and 5.5 (the order of the posts as you = walk north). It was about a 3.5 to 4 hour round-trip hike for us. Thanks, Paul, for the nice find! Today, we also had 4 semipalmated plovers from Eagles Nest Campground = and a blackpoll warbler at the southern-most parking lot in the National = Seashore section on Assateague (both species were missed on Saturday's = Rarity Roundup). How nifty to see both a snowy owl and a blackpoll = warbler on the same day in the same place !!! =20 Hal Wierenga and Lynn Davidson Arnold, Anne Arundel County, MD ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
