It was hawking insects in the tall grasses and leafless shrubs and seen within 40 feet in brilliant sunlight conditions. The undertail was well seen and has a dark outer border on the sides and extending across the tip of the tail - this feature according to Howell & Webb excludes other Myiarchus species with which it might be confused. The center of the undertail was red. I suspect that this exciting bird will stick around. The park is easily entered at any time by parking on the street at 40th and Anacostia Ave and walking in thru the yellow gate. It is a short walk to the back of the park.
