He started to hear it in the summer (almost every night) and now it is sporadic. It sounded very much like a begging call of a great horned or barred owl. Screechy and with a rising inflection. He said he hears it from the trees and it moves around occasionally. He only hears one bird. (He lives on Daniels Rd along the Patapsco river. ) he doesn't know the difference between barred and GH calls. Does any one know how long owls continue with their begging calls? I have only heard them in the summer. Do screech owls make single begging calls like I have described?
