The foggy morning probably contributed to our success, that and sharp eyes on the part of participants, and the warm season so far. Best birds: SORA! (immature), 3 (minimum!) AMERICAN BITTERNS, 25-30 (or more) FOX SPARROWS, 4-5 TREE SPARROWS, also Swamp, Song, Field, White-throated and White-crowned, RUSTY BLACKBIRD, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, DUNLIN, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, MERLIN, AMERICAN PIPITS on the field along Lilypons Rd. Lots of Horned Larks as well, but distant and we couldn't be sure whether any Longspurs were with them. The Sora was about 10 feet away in plain sight, we watched it as long as we cared, the Bitterns were also cooperative (for bitterns), as was the Merlin which perched up on a tree for long minutes of admiration. We had 58-59 species in all, about typical.
