It was with Song, Field and White-throated Sparrows spending its time between the group of trees near the lighthouse and the grassy area. It was feeding on grass seeds especially Tall Red Top and Yellow Foxtail Grass. It is a beautiful first winter bird. Of course, it is much larger than the other sparrows so it is easy to pick out. Marty Cribb, Anne Bishop and Jane Kostenko were able to see it while I was there. I observed it until 10:30 (though it had been out of sight for about one half hour) when I went back to my car to finish writing notes. At that point it was in the grass near the rest rooms. I wanted to take one more look before leaving, but a Sharp-shinned Hawk was in the area and no sparrows were active. A Life Bird!
