Subject: Oldsquaw at Triadelphia MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Good morning, all, and Happy Thanksgiving! I spent a couple hours this morning at Triadelphia Reservoir (Greenbridge access) - numbers of waterfowl were low. The highlight was a drake Oldsquaw (I may never adjust to Long-tailed Duck). He was hanging around with 3 Common Goldeneye and 8 Bufflehead. This group was initially upstream from Pigtail, but by the time I left at 9:30, they were down below the boat launch near Brighton Dam. Other birds present were: 2 Common Merganser 2 Hooded Merganser 1 Ruddy Duck 1 Canvasback 2 adult Bald Eagles a few flyover pipits When I first arrived (about 7:15) I could see a small section of the very top of the sun's 22 degree halo. After the sun broke the tree line, both sundogs were present off and on as the clouds drifted in and out of position. At 10:00 there was a single Snow (Blue) Goose at the APL Pond (near the intersection of Johns Hopkins Rd and Rt 29 in HoCo). It was with about 500 Canada geese and 1 or 2 geese of dubious barnyard heritage. My apologies if this got sent out twice - I never got the first one so figured that no one else did either.
