There is, of course, no assurance that they could come this far south, but there is no harm in being prepared. So those of you who have Crab Apple trees in your yards or lining your streets, or who know of their use as ornamentals in places public or private, keep your eyes open. Pine Grosbeaks love Crab Apples and will often perch in one for long periods of time stuffing their faces. Bohemian Waxwings will do the same. I once saw a Crab Apple tree in Minnesota that had a half dozen each of Grosbeaks and Waxwings. We simply walked up and watched - too close to focus. Good luck - and please pass the word quickly if you strike gold. Paul O'Brien Rockville, Mont.
