County, 11/24 & 11/25 Comments: To: voice@capaccess.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit 11/24 Lake Needwood had a single male REDHEAD cavorting with a single male Ring-necked Duck, a lone Pied-billed Grebe, many geese, and 4 Gadwalls, lots of Mallards. Black Hill Reg'l Park was nearly devoid of waterfowl, save a few A. Wigeons, a number of Buffleheads, a couple of Ring-necks, many C. Geese and a pair of flyover Hooded Mergs. Steady light rain falling. Zion Rd. pond was almost completely covered with Canada Geese (400-500) by mid-morning, but shortly after noon was devoid of all waterfowl except a few Bufflehead and Hooded Mergs. Searched with no luck for the O'Brien Fox Sparrow! 11/25 Triadelphia Reservoir held nothing but geese and a handful of A. Black ducks, and an adult Bald Eagle. Rachel Carson Park had 5-6 Fox Sparrows (all rufous types) with one singing! A single male Purple Finch perched high in a tree eating seeds. The woods opposite the pond had Hairy Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and Northern Flicker. Sharp-shinned Hawk and Red-tailed Hawk were the only raptors. Zion Rd. pond had 10 Hooded Mergs and a few Buffleheads, Belted Kingfisher and Great Blue Heron.
