You don't mention the most critical criteria--how much can you spend on the scope? I have always liked the Bushnell scope--it was Fran's first one and she used it for years before trading up to the Kowa and then to the Leica. It's small, relatively light, and rugged, and has a good range of eyepieces to choose from (I would NOT recommend the zoom eyepiece). I'm not sure at all of current prices, but you can go to Eagle Optics or others to see how much the current charge is.
