Today produced even a rarer backyard bird. While watching a WB nuthatch go down a tree, I spotted a Brown Creeper going up the same trunk. A YB Sapsucker also showed up today, with a fly-over of a Pileated it gave me a five Woodpecker day in my backyard. A pair of Hairy WPs had showed up daily for a couple of years until this spring. I miss their squeaks announcing their arrival. Anyone have a theory as to why some woodpeckers (esp Red-bellied) make so much noise when they come to feeders?
